Meat Raffles are an integral part of community building and a valid fundraising effort for the local church group or youth hockey team. The kids need jerseys. The element of chance is a strong theme within the Meat Raffle: What will you win? Will you get the veal or the kielbasa? What's Mom going to cook with that venison? How long has that meat been sitting on that church pew? Did someone sit on the ground beef? Is Uncle Paul already drunk? Am I a vegetarian? Is that the same steak from last month's raffle?

The artists included in this exhibition employ a similar element of chance by cross-contaminating materials and mediums. Chance and surprise battle the artist's process, leaving remnants of miscommunication, directness, and spontaneity in a final product. Join us as we celebrate our community and enjoy a smattering of meats.
