"A marinade should be put together in such a way that the meat that is marinating will soak up the flavor of the marinade"
– Scott of Scott's Food Products

Marinade presents a distinct body of works that share ideals of dedication, reputation, and the quasi-meditative experience that occurs throughout these acts. Oil paint, sand, minerals and water all become ingredients which the artist uses to create (coat) their respective device. The object slowly adapts (soaks) and, by the artist's hand, the medium converges with the object. Manley, Guidi, Rochefort, and Bourassa have a common thread; in devotion to their practice they marinate their works and pay homage to their materials.
